Chris Breitbart, Head Coach

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Chris moved to Sacramento in 1999 to be with his wife, Amy, as she completed her final two years at McGeorge School of Law. Chris graduated from CSU Bakersfield in 1998 where he swam for the NCAA Division II National Champion CSUB Road Runners. Originally a distance freestyler, Chris swam breaststroke and IM events in college.

In 1999, Chris began his coaching career as an assistant with the Sierra Marlins age group swimming program. In September 2000, the RAMS hired Chris as a full-time coach. Chris offers great support and enthusiasm for swimmers of all abilities. He tailors workouts for each individual and can always be found on deck giving feedback and encouragement to get the team through the workouts.

Tracy Battistessa , Assistant Coach

Tracy taught swimming for over 10 years, starting with teaching children basic stroke knowledge from 3 years old and up.  Now involved with Master's coaching, her experience with children often comes in handy.  In addition to teaching she coached the Sierra Marlins, both in the recreation branch of the organization and the year round clinics.  She is a member of ASCA where she continues her education in stroke work and keeps current in the developments in swimming.

Tracy has always been an active athlete competing in tennis, running and triathlons.  Her philosophy about competitive sports is that there are life lessons to be learned at any level, and that personal growth and individual achievement is all there is to be attained.  When anyone gives 100% personal effort, they are a success.  Her job as a coach is to encourage each swimmer to set reasonable goals and then GO FOR IT!!!!!  In achieving goals, they learn about themselves along the way.

Justin Smith, Assistant Coach

Justin has been around RAMS since he swam and played water polo at Sierra before transferring to UC Santa Cruz in 2002. As a UCSC Banana Slug, Justin led the team as team captain and also played water polo for a season.

Justin coaches Sierra College with Chris and also coaches for All American Swim Academy. He assisted with the Rocklin Wave in 2006. Currently Justin is a personal trainer, competitive semi-pro triathlete and outdoor enthusiast. Justin believes that to achieve you must first believe.
